Dr. Maria Torres is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She graduated Franklin High School as Valedictorian in 1999 and then attended Texas A&M University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science in 2003. Following graduation, she became a Breast Cancer Research Associate at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
In 2005, she pursued her medical school career and earned her Doctorate of Medicine from Ross
University in June, 2009. She started her Obstetrics and Gynecological residency training at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan. During her first year of residency training, Dr. Torres received Intern of the Year. She was selected as a presenter for the Barbara Holzman Stump, the Professor Sessions in 2010 and 2012 at the ACOG (American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology) Annual Meeting that were in San Diego, CA and
Cancun, Mexico respectively. She went on to receive Resident of the Year and Resident Achievement Award by the American Associate of Gynecological Laparoscopist during her Chief Year and graduated her program in July, 2013.
Dr. Torres joined Victoria Women's Clinic in the fall of 2013 and has made Victoria her home. She is passionate about advocating for her patients and creating long lasting physician-patient relationships. Her practice has focused on general and high risk obstetrics, infertility, urogynecology, and a variety of gynecology (urinary symptoms, sexual health, menstrual irregularities, and menopause). With an emphasis in menopause and hormone treatment, she is a certified BIOTE provider. Her surgical interests have been robotic, hysteroscopic, laparoscopic, infertility and in-office procedures. She has served as Maternal Medicine Director for DeTar Labor and Delivery since 2019. Dr. Torres is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Torres is married to her college sweetheart. When away from the office, she and her husband love to travel, attend professional and Aggie athletic events along with spending time with their dogs.
Dr. Torres's office is located at 110 Medical Drive, Suite 100, across from DeTar North Women and Children's Hospital. He has privileges at DeTar Navarro, DeTar Women and Children's Hospital and Citizens Medical Center.
